How much does a stairlift cost?
Stairlifts do vary in cost. Prices start from £1100 used and £1650 new. Call our freephone hotline 0800 083 0513 for full details of stairlift models and price ranges.
Do I pay V.A.T.?
Yes. V.A.T. is payable at 0% only if claiming VAT Relief, for example because of a medical ailment, otherwise V.A.T. is payable at the standard rate.
What powers the stairlifts?
Stairlifts are connected to the mains, but come with battery backup, allowing you to use your stairlift in the event of a power cut.
Does the stairlift take up a lot of space?
No, very little space in fact. New stairlifts take up approximately 12.5 to 13.5 inches when folded.
Will the stairlift definitely fit on my staircase?
This will be determined by a survey carried out by one of our engineers, in which all critical measurements of your staircase will be recorded, allowing us to recommend suitable models and their prices. If you have a straight staircase, you can even carry out your own survey, referring first to our self-survey guide and then sending us the measurements using our self-survey form.
Do the stairlifts come with a warranty?
Yes all our installations come with a warranty.
Are the stairlifts easy to use?
Yes they are incredibly easy to use. All installations come with an instruction manual and will be demonstrated by one of our engineers.
Are there any weight restrictions for stairlifts?
Yes there are weight restrictions to stairlifts. Maximum weight restrictions for stairlifts are dependent on the model and range from
120kg (18 stone) to 193kg (30 stone) for heavier duty models.
What happens if there is a power cut?
Stairlifts also come with battery backup, so in the event of a power cut, you'll still be able to use it.
Does the stairlift fix to the wall?
No, the stairlift rail fixes onto the tread of the staircase.
What happens if my stairlift breaks down?
On the rare occasion that your stairlift suffers a breakdown, call our freephone hotline on 0800 083 0513 and we'll endeavour to get the repair carried out as soon as possible.
After I've ordered my stairlift, how long does it take for the installation to be complete?
Delivery and installation times do vary. Straight stairlifts can be delivered and installed within a few days of survey.Curved
stairlifts are manufactured to your specific staircase requirements and therefore will take a little longer to be installed. Installation time for a straight stairlift is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. A curved stairlift will take slightly longer.
Are stairlifts noisy when moving up and down the stairs?
No. Stairlifts motors are very quiet and will cause no disturbance to others when in use.
What happens if something obstructs the stairlift?
Many stairlift models include sensors that will halt movement if an obstruction is detected.
